The ideal solution for supplying your Photon development board with LiPo battery is using this board. Board can be used for supplying your Photon board and charging your battery by using LiPo battery. There are JST-XH type connector with two pins on the board for connecting your single-cell LiPo battery. Your Photon board charges battery with incoming current from USB connector which is on the board.
Shield is using MCP73831 microship for LiPo charging and it using MAX1704X microchip for capacity measurement.
You can use this shield with your Particle Core board at the same time.
