This is an H-bridge IC that is able to drive 2 DC motors between 4.5-36 V with 1000 mA current flow on each channel (1.2 A in stress). It is commonly used in robotic projects and is packaged in DIP16. The IC is a better alternative than L293D (The same pin layout).
