An Encoder (Rotary Encoder) can be termed as an electromechanical device that generates an electrical signal in response to sensed motion. They are electromechanical devices that detect the rotational or translational movement of the shaft to which they are connected, by means of magnetic, mechanical, resistive and optical technologies, and generate digital electrical signals from these sensed data and give analog or digital output.
